When someone decides to play Texas hold em online, they need to know that there are many avenues they can take to do that. They can play just for fun with pretend money and points, or they can actually use their own money from the bank and gamble away as if they are visiting Las Vegas.
Of course when planning to play a Texas hold em game of poker, the rules are something important to learn prior to playing. Knowing the rules is especially important if they are actually playing with money.
Remember that the first two players that sit to the left of the dealer are the blind bet players. In other words, they are the ones who do the blind bets. The first one does a smaller blind bet than the second guy.
After these guys give their blind bets, all players are each given two cards for their hand. After everyone has their two cards, the betting can begin. Going in sequence, the next guy after the guy who put up the larger blind bet can either raise the bet, call the bet or fold his hand.
Betting will continue in this manner until everyone is finished betting. Once the betting is done, the flop starts to be revealed. Three cards are turned face up. Each player gets a chance to match those three cards with the two cards they hold in their hand to see if they have a hand of five cards that makes something worth betting for.
The betting resumes around the table after everyone is done checking the flop and will go until it is done once more. Betting resumes after that, and then another flop card is turned over on the table. This one is called the fourth street. It can also be referred to as the turn card.
After more betting, the fifth flop card is turned over. This one is known as the river. It is also called the fifth street. Betting starts back up for the last time and when it’s done, the winners are revealed.
Winners are determined by who, when matching their hand to the flop cards, comes up with the best hand worth the most points. There are different hands worth different points. Things like a flush, straight or full house are worth the most. Then there are things like pairs, three of a kind and two pairs. What is in a hand determines the winner.
